Abstract
A 6-year-old boy presented with repeated attacks of fever, abdominal pain, and obstructive
jaundice. Clinical examination and preoperative imaging suggested the diagnosis of
a type I choledochal cyst. During surgery, a hydatid cyst was found occupying the
head of pancreas, causing obstruction of the common bile duct. The authors emphasize
that in endemic areas, hydatid cyst should be included in the list of conditions in
the differential diagnoses of obstructive jaundice and cystic lesions located around
the bilio-pancreatic junction in children.
