The Editors at the Journal of Pediatric Surgery (JPS) recently learned that our Senior
Publisher, Mr. Allan Ross (Fig. 1), has decided to retire at the end of 2022 after 40 years in the publishing business
and the last 10 years with Elsevier and JPS. In his publishing career, Allan has managed
a broad spectrum of biomedical and clinical science products at leading STM publishers
including Elsevier, W.B. Saunders (Division of Harcourt), and Springer-Verlag. In
his 10 years at Elsevier, among many other accomplishments, he has launched eight
new online-only journals, two of which are the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports
(JPSCR) and the soon-to-be JPS Open. Allan has been a wonderful advocate for the JPS
Editor, but also a wonderful supporter of the community of pediatric surgery, and
greatly values what we do each and every day.
